Cary L. Jennings co-founded the law firm of Broude, Smith & Jennings, P.C. in Fort Worth, Texas in 1997. His areas of law practice include tax litigation and controversies, business planning and transactions, and estate planning and probate. Since 1993 he has been board certified in Tax Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Originally a Dallas native, Cary earned his undergraduate and law degrees from Southern Methodist University. Following graduation from law school in 1982, he served for five years as a trial attorney with the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. and Dallas, trying tax cases in state and federal courts. While at the Justice Department, he received the Assistant Attorney General’s Outstanding Attorney Award for exceptional results in the cases he tried. In 1987, he earned a Master of Laws Degree in Taxation from New York University School of Law, which is recognized nationally as the preeminent law school in the study of tax law.
Cary has been a member of the State Bar of Texas since 1982, and he is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the U.S. Tax Court, and the U. S. Court of Federal Claims.
Cary has served in a number of civic and charitable activities, including nearly five years as Chairman of the City of Fort Worth Zoning Commission. He is currently an officer and director of the Planned Parenthood of North Texas Action Fund.
